South Africa Steps in to Host the 2025 IWBF Africa U23 Men African Championships

The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) Africa is pleased to announce that South Africa will proudly host the 2025 IWBF Africa U23 Men African Championships, stepping in after the decision to relocate the event from Libya due to unforeseen circumstances.

The tournament will now take place from 03-13 February 2025 at the state-of-the-art Mandeville Indoor Sports Center in Johannesburg, South Africa. This prestigious event serves as a critical qualifier for the 2025 IWBF U23 Men’s World Championship, to be held in São Paulo, Brazil, in June 2025.

South Africa looks forward to welcoming the national teams from Libya, DR Congo, Egypt, Liberia, and Kenya to Johannesburg for this highly anticipated competition. As hosts, South Africa is committed to delivering a world-class tournament that reflects the spirit of inclusivity, sportsmanship, and excellence that defines wheelchair basketball.

With the Mandeville Indoor Sports Center’s top-tier facilities, the tournament promises an unforgettable experience for athletes, officials, and spectators alike. South Africa’s vibrant culture and passion for sport will set the stage for memorable matches, as these nations compete for the opportunity to represent Africa on the global stage.

We thank all participating countries, sponsors, and supporters for their continued commitment to wheelchair basketball and its development across the continent.
